The Flu Immunisation Clinic
As
in previous years, we will be holding Flu Vaccination Clinic at Gladstone
Medical Centre.
-
Flu
is a major cause of morbility and mortality for people over 65 years
of age and people who are at risk (see above). Flu immunisation gives
good protection against flu.
-
The
H1N1 virus that caused the swine flu pandemic last year
will still be around this winter, so this years seasonal flu
vaccine will include a vaccine to protect against this virus.
-
If
you are pregnant and have already had the swine flu vaccination you
Do Not need the seasonal flu vaccination. If you are pregnant
and in any of the clinical risk groups (stated above), you should
still have your seasonal flu vaccination as well. Talk to your
GP or midwife if you're unsure about what vaccination you should have.
-
Flu
immunisation does not prevent coughs and colds
-
Even
if you've already had a flu jab in previous years, you need another
one this year.
-
Flu
Immunisation does not cause any illness (It is coincidence if you
develop a cough or cold shortly after having a flu immunisation
-
If
you like to attend our Flu Immunisation clinics, please contact at
the surgery as soon as possible to book an appointment.
-
You
should not be given the flu vaccination if you have a serious allergy
to hens' eggs or if you have had a serious reaction to a flu vaccination
before. Speak to your GP.
