Heart Disease Prevention Clinic
People with high blood pressure or a strong family history of heart disease are given comprehensive check-ups. Blood cholesterol check-ups are also arranged.
Respiratory (Asthma & COPD) Clinic
We encourage all our asthma and COPD patients to understand their disease and their treatment. They are also taught how to monitor their well-being at home by the use of the "peak flow meter" (a simple device to record breathing). Spirometry is also performed regularly to check patients' lung function. Please see the receptionist to make an appointment with the asthma nurse or the doctor.
To prevent complications due to diabetes, patients need regular check-ups and advice from experienced nurses/ doctors. At this clinic all your queries are answered and all necessary check-ups are done to prevent long-term complications. Please see the receptionist to make an appointment with the nurse or your doctor
Full antenatal care and post-natal care including home visits by doctors is available. Please make an early appointment for your pregnancy needs and inform the surgery immediately upon returning home after confinement.
A comprehensive contraception service is available within normal surgery times. Coil insertion, pill injections, diaphragms, oral contraceptives and emergency contraception (morning after pill) are available from the doctor. Please ring for an appointment.
Weight Reduction Clinic
We encourage prevention of disease by healthy eating habits. Simple modification to your diet and lifestyle can give years of disease free life. Please see the receptionist to make an appointment with the nurse.
Smoking Cessation Clinic
We encourage patients to give up smoking and offer full support and advice during a six week planned programme. Please see the nurse for details.
Patients Aged 75 Years and Over
If you are 75 or over you should be seen annually by a member of the practice. This can be done at the surgery if you are well enough to attend. If you are housebound, a home visit will be arranged.
We offer full range of travel immunisations and encourage proper immunisation cover before overseas travel. Please contact reception for details.
Well Woman Clinic
Well woman clinics are run by Dr K Alauddin and the practice nurses thorough medical check-up is offered . Breast self-examination techniques are demonstrated and any queries regarding womens health matters are answered. Effective screening can prevent cancer of the cervix and we recommend smear tests every three years. These are usually done at the Well Woman Clinic however they could be carried out at other times by prior arrangement.
As well as the above clinics the following services are also available here:-
Alcohol Service - referral by your Doctor/Nurse
Citizens Advice Bureau
Physiotherapy - referral by our Doctor
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travel Health Questionnaire
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before coming to see the nurse.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday. To visit please click:- http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/eu_glance/86/en.pdf (this is a large document and may take a minute or two to view)
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
